FIRST COLLECTION FROM THE SERIES OF DOCUMENTARY CHRONICLES "MATERIALS OF THE STATE COMMISSION ON THE FULL REHABILITATION OF VICTIMS OF POLITICAL REPRESSIONS

In January 2022, the first collections of archive documents from the series "Materials of the State Commission for the full rehabilitation of the victims of political repressions of the 20-50s of the 20th century" were published. Twentieth Century."

As State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Karin noted in his interview about the results of the State Commission's activities, "Significant academic and expert potential has been consolidated around the study of repression. Various scientists and even separate teams had previously actively studied this issue, but these efforts were scattered. That is why all the main representatives of the scientific-expert environment, engaged in the study of the history of repressions, were united under the auspices of the State Commission.

These works are published by the orders of the State Commission for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repressions (point 3.3 of the Protocol of the State Commission meeting of June 24, 2021) and the State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan (point 1.1 of the Protocol of August 19, 2021).

The first volume of the "Materials of the State Commission for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repressions (20-50 years of XX century)", (Volume I. / Ed. by Y. T. Karin. - Nur-Sultan, 2022. - 622 p.) includes regulations and documents, which served as the basis for mass political repression in Kazakhstan from 1920 to 1950s. A significant part of the documents is published for the first time. The declassified archival documents included in the collection provide an opportunity to study the legal and political basis as well as concrete mechanisms of repressive policies in respect of various categories of victims of mass repression. The publication of materials on political repressions will continue as unclassified funds become available.

The second volume of the "Materials of the State Commission on full rehabilitation of victims of political repressions (20-50s of XX century)", (Volume II. / Ed. by Y. T. Karin. - Nur-Sultan, 2022. - 548 pages.) is the collection of documents on the history of Kazakhstan from late 1920s - early 1930s, revealed from the funds of the Presidential Archive, Central State Archive of Kazakhstan and some regional archives. The main part of the documents for the first time is introduced into scientific circulation and reveals the peculiarities of the development and implementation of repressive policy, the crucifixion and total violation of economic, socio-political, and cultural rights, and the destruction of private property.

The presented collections of archival documents are one of the results of a well-developed methodology of searching and researching in various archival funds, declassification of documents, and qualitative comparative analysis of historical sources.

Recommended for publication by the Academic Council of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch. Valikhanov within the program OR 11465470 "Mass political repressions in Kazakhstan in 20-the 50s of the 20th century and rehabilitation processes: the creation of a unified database," with funding from the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In June 2022 there was a business trip to Ust-Kamenogorsk city to gather statistical data on bais, kulaks, middlemen, and sharuas. The State Archive of the East Kazakhstan region and its branches contain materials of the primary level on drawing up lists of kulaks, bais, and atkaminers for expulsion and liquidation as a class.

Doctor of History, Professor Saule Aukenovna Zhakisheva from 12 to 24 June 2022 led a scientific trip to Shymkent and Kentau, Baidibeksk (Shayan), Ordabasinski (Temirlanovka) and Suzak (Sholak-Kurgan) districts of the Turkistan region on the program: "Mass political repression in Kazakhstan in the 20-the 50s of XX century and the rehabilitation process: creating a single database".

Doctor of History, Professor Araylym Sabitovna Musagaliyeva made a business trip to the State Archives of Atyrau region from April 27 to May 9, 2022, to carry out research services for the project "Mass political repression in Kazakhstan in the 20s-50s of XX century and the rehabilitation process: the creation of a single database".
